On the back cover of this pamphlet is a depiction of the “Falls at Canajoharie, NY.” The town’s name derives from Gana-jo-ha-ray, which in the native Iroquois language means a “pot that washes itself,” referring to a deep, kettle-shaped hole (or “boiling pot”) worn in the rocks at the falls on Canajoharie Creek. An old picture postcard of this geological formation can be seen here. |
