Designed by Boston-based designLab Architects, the new $10 million Arkell Museum is not just a beautiful building in its own right but a narrative about the intersection of local manufacturing and world-class art told through the patronage of Bartlett Arkell, founder of Beech-Nut Packing Company. Mr. Arkell’s collection of late 19th and early 20th century American paintings can now be displayed in a venue that is as impressive as the works themselves. The juxtaposition and subtle blending of the historic gambrel-roofed Library with the contemporary gallery addition makes a bold statement about Canajoharie’s hopeful future, its living present, and a proud industrial past.

Below is a floor plan of the new museum taken from our Visitors Guide. Although an architectural rendering can hardly do it justice, we do hope that it will inspire you to visit the Museum in person.
